Attic Insulation DFW

Blown-in fiberglass attic insulation in DFW. R-38 to R-60, air sealing included, baffles on every job. Free estimates, honest advice.

Your attic in July hits 140 degrees. That heat pushes down through your ceiling drywall, through the ductwork, through every wall cavity it can find. Your AC runs longer. Your bills go up. The fix is about a foot of blown-in insulation and a day of work.

Why attic insulation matters in DFW

That 140-degree attic isn't staying up there. It's migrating into your living space. Most DFW homes built before 2010 have less insulation than current code recommends. If you can see your ceiling joists when you go up there, you don't have enough.

Proper attic insulation is the single most cost-effective way to lower your energy bills. Most of our customers see a 30-50% drop in summer cooling costs after upgrading to R-38 or R-49 blown-in.

What we install

We use fiberglass blown-in insulation for most attic jobs. It's cost-effective, fire-resistant, and doesn't settle like cellulose. For DFW climate zone 3 — the "Texas Toast" zone — here's what we recommend:

OptionR-ValuePrice per sq ftTypical cost
R-38Minimum for DFW$1.00-1.30$1,300-2,200
R-49Optimal savings$1.20-1.55$1,600-2,700
R-60Maximum protection$1.45-1.80$1,900-3,200

Our promise

We air-seal before we insulate. Most crews skip this step. It's the difference between okay insulation and great insulation.

The process — what to expect

1. Free estimate

We come look at your attic with a thermal camera. We check current insulation levels, air leaks, ventilation, and any existing problems. You get a written quote — no pressure, no "this offer expires today."

2. Air sealing

Before any insulation goes in, we seal every penetration between your living space and the attic: plumbing stacks, electrical wiring, recessed lights, HVAC ducts. Insulation slows heat transfer, but air leaks bypass it entirely. Sealing them first is the most important step.

3. Baffle installation

We install fiberglass baffles at every soffit vent. Blocked soffit vents are the number one insulation mistake in DFW homes. Baffles keep the insulation from blocking your attic's ventilation. They're non-negotiable on every job we do.

4. Blown-in insulation

The insulation is blown in using a machine that fluffs it evenly to the specified R-value. We use walk boards throughout the attic so we don't step through your ceiling.

5. Cleanup

We seal off the work area with plastic sheeting and run a HEPA vacuum on the way out. You won't find fiberglass dust in your hallway.

Common questions

What R-value do I need for my attic in DFW?

DFW is climate zone 3, which calls for R-38 minimum. R-49 is recommended for maximum savings. If your current insulation is level with or below your floor joists, you need more.

How long does installation take?

Most attic insulation jobs are completed in a single day. A typical 1,500 sq ft attic takes 3-5 hours including prep, air sealing, baffle installation, and cleanup.

Do I need to remove old insulation first?

Not always. If your existing insulation is dry, clean, and not compressed, we can add on top. If it's contaminated with rodent droppings, mold, or heavy dust, removal is recommended first.

How much will my energy bill drop?

Most homeowners save $400-800 per year. Some see their summer bills cut in half. I can't guarantee exact savings — anyone who does is selling something — but I can show you averages from similar homes we've done.

When NOT to insulate

  • If you have an active roof leak, fix that first.
  • If you have mold in your attic, remediate that first.
  • If your attic has no ventilation, address that first.

I'll tell you if you need to fix something before we insulate. I'd rather lose a sale than do a bad job.
